Abstract. FTIR and FT-Raman spectroscopy was used to investigate the captopril properties after different thermal treatments and storage. Vibrational behaviour in free or adsorbed state of captopril is reported here and compared to the corresponding vibrational studies upon coordination to the metal ions. The accurate vibrational assignment of the experimental observed bands was made upon DFT calculations reviling the optimized molecular geometry of this molecule.
